What decides the fit is the accessory rail, not the brand: if your pistol has a compatible integral accessory rail, it will seat — even if the exact model is not named above. Pistols without a rail are not compatible.

Yes. The holster anchors to the accessory rail under the frame, forward of the trigger guard, using the included rail-lock adapter. Look at the underside of your pistol: if there is a squared-off rail section with one or more cross slots, you are compatible. If the dust cover is smooth and rounded with no rail, this holster is not the right tool for that firearm.

Check three things. First, confirm your pistol has an integral accessory rail. Second, note that a rail-mounted light or laser can stay installed — the adapter shares the rail with it. Third, plan to verify full trigger coverage with an unloaded firearm as soon as the holster arrives. Yes. Compact and full-size double-stack service pistols are the core of the compatibility list, because they are the models that normally carry an integral accessory rail. Because retention comes from the rail rather than from a shell moulded to one slide profile, differences in slide length and grip size do not affect the fit.

Only if the pistol has an integral accessory rail. Many micro-compact and slim single-stack pistols are built without one, and those are not compatible — this is the most common reason a universal holster will not work. Check the underside of your frame before ordering.

Yes, and that is the main reason to choose this design. Any pistol in your collection with a compatible rail uses the same holster, so you keep one consistent draw stroke instead of a different holster for every gun. Re-check the retention setting each time you switch firearms.

Yes. The holster's rail-lock adapter and a rail-mounted light or laser both fit on the accessory rail at the same time, so you can carry with your light installed and never take it off to holster up. This is exactly where moulded holsters fail: they are formed around one specific gun-and-light combination, so changing either one means buying another shell.

Yes. The holster attaches at the accessory rail, so anything mounted elsewhere on the pistol does not affect the fit — a red dot, suppressor-height sights, a threaded barrel or a compensator are all fine. This is exactly where moulded holsters fail, because they are formed around one specific slide profile.

They can. Anything that changes the frame, the dust cover or the accessory rail — an aftermarket frame, a rail cover, an extended dust cover — may change how the adapter seats. Slide-side changes such as optics cuts and porting normally do not. If your pistol is modified, describe the changes to support@tacfender.com before ordering.

Retention works by adjustable tension. The included rail-lock adapter engages your pistol's accessory rail, and you set the tension with the adjustment hardware so the firearm releases with a straight, consistent pull. There is no button or lever to disengage, which keeps the draw stroke identical every time.

Yes, retention tension is adjustable. Set it so the pistol seats with a positive, noticeable engagement and does not shift when you move — then test it with an unloaded firearm by inverting the holster and shaking it vigorously. Nothing should move. If the draw feels rough or the pistol has to be forced, back the tension off slightly and test again.

We do not advertise a duty retention level, because that classification applies to holsters certified against a defined standard and this holster has not been rated to one. What it offers is adjustable passive retention: friction and mechanical engagement at the rail, with no active lock. For duty use where a certified retention level is required by policy, choose a holster rated for it.

Yes. The holster body fully encloses the trigger guard when the pistol is seated, so nothing can reach the trigger while it is holstered — that is the baseline safety requirement of any holster. Verify it on your own pistol anyway: with the firearm unloaded, seat it and confirm nothing can reach the trigger from any angle. If any part of the trigger is exposed or contactable, stop using that configuration and contact support.

That is what the adjustable retention is for. Once tension is set correctly the pistol should stay seated through walking, running, bending and vehicle movement. Test your own setup before trusting it: unloaded firearm, holster inverted, shaken hard. Re-check the setting periodically, and any time you change pistols or accessories.

Check it every time. Different pistols present slightly different rail geometry, so a tension setting dialled in for one gun may be too tight or too loose for another. It takes a few seconds: seat the unloaded pistol, confirm full trigger coverage, invert and shake.

Any holster will show holster wear over time — that is normal contact wear, not a defect, and it is not covered by the warranty. Keeping the interior free of grit makes the biggest difference: dust and sand trapped inside are what actually cause scratching. Wipe the holster out after dusty range sessions.

Yes. The design is ambidextrous — the same unit is configured for right-handed or left-handed carry, so you do not buy a separate left-hand version. That also means one holster can move between shooters in the same household. Re-check retention and trigger coverage after reconfiguring.

It is an OWB (outside the waistband) holster, worn on the belt with the included adjustable paddle. OWB is the right format for range sessions, training, and open or truck carry, where access and easy reholstering matter more than deep concealment. It can be covered with an outer layer, but it is not designed for flat, deep concealment under a fitted shirt.

Every unit ships with the universal holster, an adjustable belt paddle, the rail-lock adapter and additional mounting hardware — everything needed to set it up out of the box. A firearm, magazine, ammunition, light and laser are not included, and accessories shown alongside the product in photos are for illustration. Buying for several shooters? Yes. It ships ready to set up, with the mounting hardware included — there is no cutting, heating or reshaping involved at any point. You should never modify the holster: altering it can compromise trigger coverage and retention, and it voids the warranty.

Always. Every fitting, retention adjustment, handedness change and shake test must be done with a completely unloaded firearm, in a safe direction, with no ammunition in the room. This is the single most important instruction on this page.

Wipe it down with a damp cloth and mild soap, then let it dry before use. Pay attention to the inside of the holster body — trapped grit is what causes finish wear on your firearm, so clearing it out matters more than anything else. Avoid abrasive pads, which can scuff the surface.

Yes. The holster is water-resistant and does not degrade from rain, sweat, dust or mud, so it is built for real field and range use. After a dirty session, rinse or wipe it out and check that the mounting hardware is still tight — grit trapped inside is what wears on your firearm's finish.

Stop carrying with it and retighten before further use — a loose adjustment screw changes retention. If a screw will not hold, or a component is damaged or missing, email support@tacfender.com with your order number and a photo. Hardware that fails because of a manufacturing defect is covered by the lifetime warranty; hardware lost in use is not.
